It has been a season filled with controversy for Rangers as they head into their next match against Aberdeen. Their season started with a fresh breath of optimism as their coach Pedro Caixinha experimented with the side by bringing in players of his choice. His tactics were not exactly on point as Rangers began to falter on occasions.
As the frequency of disruptions heightened in Rangers’ performances, Caixinha faced the ultimatum and was given the sack. His departure paved the return for club legend Kenny Miller who was only too happy to work with new interim boss Graeme Murty.
Murty turned to the experienced heads in the squad to help his team and Rangers began to show signs of improvement. However, despite their climb up the table, it was not enough for them to force a title challenge against Celtic.
The Gers lost to the Hoops twice in a row; both by huge margins of 4-0 and 5-0. The latter led to a dressing room bust-up which saw the club captain Lee Wallace and Kenny Miller get suspended for life. The poor results led to the impending doom of Murty as well and with just 3 matches left, the Gers appointed Steven Gerrard.
The former England international retired from football in 2016 and this is his first real job as a manager of a big team. It will be a good opportunity for the English legend to assess the strengths and weaknesses of his side, whose reins he will taking over at the start of the new season, when they take on Aberdeen in their next match.
The match will be a faceoff between the second and the third-placed teams and Rangers will have to win the tie if they wish to finish second this season. The Teddy Bears are likely to go out with a similar side which won them their last encounter.

Formation: 4-2-3-1
Defence
Jak Alnwick should be the one to play in between the sticks after keeping a clean sheet last time out. David Bates alongside Russell Martin are likely to be the two centre-backs. Andrew Halliday can be expected to be the left back with James Tavernier playing on the right flank.
Midfield
Jason Holt might be expected to play as a holding midfielder next to Graham Dorrans. Jason Cummings can be expected in the number 10 role.
Attack
Jamie Murphy could start on the left flank with Daniel Candeias on the right.
Alfredo Morelos should be the one to lead the line for the Gers.
