Everything seemed to be falling in place last season for Newcastle United fans as they secured their promotion to the English top flight for this season. However, the recent reports which are coming through might upset them as their influential manager Rafael Benitez might be on his way out of the club.
According to reports, the Spanish tactician has admitted that his contract situation is tricky. He has brought the Toons to the Premier League after winning the Championship and could be on his way to securing a top half finish this season. The reports suggest that he doesn’t want to be involved in another relegation battle and therefore will be needing financial help to improve Newcastle.
The major reason for his departure could be his relationship with the owners. Benitez was supposed to be given a transfer budget of £70 million in the last three windows. However, the owners didn’t fulfill their promise and that has apparently left Benitez miffed.
The former Liverpool man has certainly done a lot for this average Newcastle side by taking them to safety zone comfortably. If one looks at this current Magpies team, there aren’t many players who standout on their own but under Benitez, they have punched above their weight all season long
If things between the owners and the Spanish mastermind is not resolved, Benitez can be on his way out of the club and that will certainly not go down well with the fans as they adore him. However, they might have to prepare for his departure and in case this turns into reality, we want to take a look at three possible replacements the Toons can go after.
Brendan Rodgers
The Celtic boss could be given a ticket back to the Premier League by the Toons. He has a decent pedigree as he has transformed Celtic into a well-oiled unit. He came perilously close to winning the Premier League with Liverpool. Now could be a good time for the Northern Irishman to show what he has improved on in the last few years with the Scottish giants.
Michael Laudrup
The Danish is considered as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation and he is said to have a great footballing brain. He previously had a stint with Swansea city but he failed to impress in his time there. Currently, he is managing Al-Rayyan in the Qatar league and the Toons can take a punt on him.

Claudio Ranieri
Who can forget the Italian and what he did with Leicester City. He was shown the door after Leicester were struggling in the season after winning the Premier League. He is currently managing Nantes who are 10th in the Ligue 1. He can be a good fit for Newcastle as he has a plethora of managing experience behind him.
