Crystal Palace might have just gotten a big boost ahead of the transfer window as their target Leander Dendoncker might snub Chelsea in favour of Palace where he will have more chances of first-team football. He was linked with a move to England in the January transfer window but nothing concrete materialised. Along with the Eagles, clubs like West Ham and Watford also were interested in his signature.
Palace will be in need of a reinforcement this summer as they will be hoping to avoid a relegation battle next season. Coming off a few good results in the last few weeks, they have pretty much secured their position in the English top flight.
They started the season horribly as they were pointless after the first seven games. Their manager, Frank De Boer, who was signed with a lot of gusto in the summer was shown the door and everything looked shaky at Selhurst Park. However, they found their saviour in the veteran Roy Hodgson as he inspired his team to reach the safety net.
Regarding his move to the Premier League, Belgian football analyst Aad De Mos said, ”It is important to keep that pressure away. At one point, a transfer seemed more important than his game, which he suffered from. In the past few weeks, he is better. It will not be at the top. He won’t go to Chelsea, rather to a club like Crystal Palace or Everton.”
One can understand why a player might be sceptical regarding a move to a big club like Chelsea. There have been a host of players who joined the Blues with big dreams but were never able to break into the first 11. This will certainly boost the chances of other clubs who are looking to pounce on Dendoncker.
Dendoncker is a defensive midfielder and currently plays for the Belgian outfit Anderlecht. He has been with them since 2013 and has been a key player for them over the years. He has been capped 5 times for his national side.

Crystal Palace will be in need of defensive midfielder as they have had problems at the back. Yohan Cabaye has had an inconsistent season and to bring in more competition they can certainly look to sign Dendoncker who has good potential as well as good amount of experience.
