Ryan Bertrand will be one of the most sought-after players in the summer as a host of clubs are chasing his signature. The 28-year-old English defender is playing for Southampton currently who are deep into a relegation battle.
According to reports, the newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers are keeping tabs on him and the Saints can demand £25m for their prized asset. The Saints are currently on the 18th spot and have a big week ahead as they will be taking on fellow relegation-threatened Swansea City midweek. If they go down to the Championship, they will certainly lose Bertrand along with other key players.
Wolves on the other hand, are on a high this season as they have secured their promotion to English top flight. Backed by their new owners and manager, they have been head and shoulders above everyone in the Championship.
They have been equally shrewd in the transfer market as they brought in 5-6 players on loan who have played a crucial part in their success this season. They have been willing to splash the cash as well as they signed Ruben Neves for a club record fee and the Portuguese midfielder has been instrumental for them.
One would have expected the Saints to be somewhere around the midtable at the end of the season but the constant raids of their top players by big clubs have certainly caught up with them. It is high time that they invest the money they have been making by selling the players.
Bertrand is one of the complete modern day fullbacks as he is equally adept at defending and attacking. It will be interesting to see where he plays for the Wolves as Nuno Santo usually deploys a back three.

Bertrand might well play in the left midfield or in a wingback role if the West Midlands club secures his services. He will certainly be a great addition as he has a plethora of experience in the Premier League. However, it will be interesting to see whether Wolves will be able to lure him in as other top clubs who will be playing in European competition are also vying for his signature.
