West Ham United have recently been linked with Fulham goalkeeper, Marcus Bettinelli. David Moyes is on the lookout for Joe Hart’s replacement and the 25-year-old has impressed the West Ham boss with his performances in the EFL Championship this season.
Bettinelli’s rise to top has been quite recent in the Lillywhites squad. David Button held the starting berth in between the sticks and Bettinelli managed to steal the position in early December. The Englishman has appeared in 26 games for the Cottagers this campaign and has maintained 12 clean sheets in their race for Premier League promotion.
A possibility of an England call-up was also being debated after witnessing the shot stopper’s inspiring displays in the second division. He has been capped just once for the England youth sides and could be highly-priced if Fulham win promotion to the English top-flight.
Bettinelli started his playing career with Fulham and joined the club’s U21 squad back in 2011. He had to be sent out on loan to Dartford, and Accrington Stanley for the next two seasons for more senior team experience.
After playing second fiddle to David Stockdale in his early years, Bettinelli had to work his way up the ranks to finally establish himself as one of the prestigious names in the league. He deserves the call-up to the big times and could an ideal replacement for Joe Hart in the Hammers goal.
The England international is set to be a free agent this summer as Manchester City have expressed no interest in extending his contract. Pep Guardiola already has Ederson and Claudio Bravo in the squad.
Adrian is also looking to make an exit from the London Stadium this summer which would potentially leave David Moyes with 19-year-old Nathan Trott as the only option in between the sticks.
The former Manchester United boss will have to look for a way to pry Bettinelli out of the rewarding prospects of an energetic Fulham squad. The 25-year-old would not mind the move as his starting berth could be almost guaranteed.

West Ham needs to make these quality signings in the summer window in order to prevent their current seasonal woes from repeating itself.
