Watford are being linked with highly rated Ukranian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. Lunin currently plays for Ukranian side Zorya Luhansk. He started his career at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and after some stellar performances he was being touted as the future Ukraine international and despite being just 19 he has already represented them once.
Watford started off their season brightly but their season has slowly gone down the barrel in the last few months. They were easily expected to finish in the top half of the table. However, at present, they are on 41 points and look unlikely to finish in the top half as they will be traveling to Old Trafford next week to take on Manchester United.
The Hornets have some good attacking talents upfront like Troy Deeney, Richarlison and Gerard Deulofeu who have done well in patches. Their main struggle has been at the back as they have been unable to keep clean sheets and one of the main reason behind that has been their goalkeeper.
The veteran Heurelho Gomes has started most of the season but he has let his team down with some fatal errors. As a result, Javi Garcia has preferred Orestis Karnezis in the latter half of the season and Watford could bring in more competition by signing Andriy Lunin in the summer.
Bringing in a new player not only adds depth to the squad but also makes the current player work hard as they know there is an able replacement waiting for them. A signing like this certainly boosts Watford’s chances next term. However, they will have to fight for his signature as there are other clubs as well who are looking to pounce on him.
The Ukranian shot stopper was linked with clubs in Spain and Italy in the January transfer window but Zorya were able to hold on to him until the end of the season. However, it will be a difficult task for them if clubs from top leagues come vying for his signature in the summer.

The custodian might take time to get used to the dynamics of English football but has all the potential to shine in England. He has played in Europe this season and conceded 9 goals in six games but that was mostly down to his team’s shoddy defence. Watford should certainly look to snap him up as they urgently need a top-class goalkeeper.
