Watford will be hosting Newcastle United in a mid-table clash as both the team will be looking to finish in the top half of the table by the end of the season. Watford have been dismal lately as they have mustered up just two points in their last 6 games. However, even after those results, they are pretty much safe from the relegation battle as they are currently on 38 points. Yet Javi Garcia will like to ensure that they get three points at home to make sure they touch the magical 40 point mark.
The Hornets had a bright start to the season but they have slowly faded as the season has progressed. One usually sees this happening with mid-table clubs at this point in the season as they don’t have much to play for. However, Watford will look to end the season on a high and finish at least in the top half of the table.
They have a tricky fixture in the last game as they will take on second-placed Manchester United and because of that this game will have more significance as the fans and the Watford team won’t want a relegation scare on the last day of the season.
The Hornets will be without Stefano Okaka, Tom Cleverley, Younes Kaboul, Nathaniel Chalobah and Tommie Hoban for this encounter at the Vicarage Road. Gerard Deulofeu is back from injury, however, he is expected to be on the bench as he doesn’t have much of a game-time behind him.
Here is how Watford will most likely lineup-
Formation(4-2-3-1)
Defence:
Orsestis Karnezis has seemed to become the first choice over Heurelho Gomes as the Brazillian stopper became more error-prone as the season progressed. So Karnezis will be the last line of defence for the Hornets. He will be shielded by the back four of Jose Holebas, Craig Cathcart, Christian Kabasele and Adrian Mariappa.
Midfield:
Etienne Capoue and Abdoulaye Doucoure will start in the middle of the pitch. Doucoure has especially been impressive as he has popped in with some crucial goals for the Hornets. The attacking outlet from the midfield will be provided by Roberto Pereyra, Will Hughes and Richarlison. Richarlison has seen his form dip drastically in the last few months as he was one of the standout players for Watford at the beginning of the season.
Attack:
The veteran Troy Deeney will be expected to lead the charge for Javi Garcia’s men.
