Watford‘s season started out brightly but slowly they have faded as their season has progressed. It is largely down to injuries to some of their key players like Gerard Deulofeu and Tom Cleverley. Richarlison, too, has seen his form dipped in the last few months and this hasn’t certainly helped their cause.
Deulofeu has been influential for the Hornets whenever he has been available. This was considered as a make or break season for the Spanish forward as Neymar had left Barcelona and it was expected that the former Everton ace will replace him. However, Barcelona went on to sign Ousmane Dembele for big money and sent Deulofeu back on loan in the Premier League, this time to the Vicarage road.
Such decisions certainly have not gone well with the player as he wasn’t given a proper run of games at the Camp Nou to prove himself and it seems that he has decided to not go back to them. Regarding his return to the Catalonia, he said,”It’s clear that I will not be returning to Barca, I do not think the coach would want me back at Barca and I have been told by Watford that I am wanted, so it could be that I stay at the club.I cannot say what will happen and we must wait but now I’m back from my injury and now I hope to finish the season strongly.I need to remain calm and make the right decision, but a Barca return is not likely.”
Those are certainly some strong words from the Spaniard and it seems that he is personally aghast by the snub which Barcelona gave him this season. Deulofeu was touted as one of the bright prospects when he was at Barcelona but things haven’t gone the Spaniard’s way as one would have expected.
Deulofeu is a skilful player and usually plays on the right wing but is also adept at playing in the left wing position. He is blessed with great technique and dribbling skills and can wriggle out of tight spaces. When he was at the La Masia, he was being touted as the next Messi.

Watford should definitely try and snap a talent like Deulofeu on a permanent basis in the summer. The player has clearly expressed a desire to stay at the Vicarage road and a player like him can go on to become one of the fan favourites at the club as he can provide that moment of magic when he is on the pitch.
