The high flying Burnley are expected to play in the Europa League next season and they already seem to be preparing for it as they are looking to bolster their squad. The Clarets have been linked with the highly impressive Bristol City defender Joe Bryan. Bryan is a left back and has impressed everyone with his performance this term.
Sean Dyche’s men have surely punched above their weight this season as they have pulled off some great results in the English top flight. They have been defensively organised and their players have stepped up whenever they have been called upon. Their captain, Tom Heaton, suffered a long-term injury at the start of the season and it was supposed to be a big blow for them as the Englishman has been terrific between the sticks for the Clarets. But they found a saviour in young English goalkeeper Nick Pope. This is just one of the instances where an unknown player has pulled his team through as Burnley has found a number of such ‘saviours’ throughout the season.
Dyche might be including some more players to add depth to the squad and it seems that they have zeroed in on Joe Bryan. Bristol City manager, Lee Johnson recently talked about the challenges of the upcoming transfer window and what could perspire in it. He was quoted as saying,-”I think potentially it could be a difficult summer. It could be a very difficult summer. And we have to make some really strong decisions and those decisions may or may not go down well with the fan base.”
He also gave an indication of Bryan’s situation and said-”You look at the Joe Bryan situation and of course you want to keep Joe Bryan as he’s a fantastic player, but I think his form has dipped a little bit, and then you look at somebody like Lloyd Kelly coming through and you’re just so enthused about the quality of the young players coming through the academy.
So yeah, all teams lose players, particularly in this day and age but you have to make sure that you’ve got the conveyor belt for the next one. Either through the academy or good recruitment.”

It is good to see that the manager is being honest with his key player’s situation and realises that if a club from higher division comes in he might lose his man. However, instead of being salty, he has indicated that he will look at the academy and for future prospects to fill in the void left by the player.
