Wolverhampton Wanderers are being linked to Fulham‘s fullback Ryan Fredericks. Fulham are currently third, one point behind second-placed Cardiff City. With just one game to go, a slipup from either of the teams can put the other in the second spot, which will ensure a direct qualification to the Premier League.
The former Spurs player has been featuring regularly for the Cottagers this term as he has made 43 appearances in all competitions. Fredericks has played a huge part in Fulham’s push for Premier League promotion and the fact that his contract is expiring this summer, he is bound to be linked with other clubs. Wolves, on the other hand, are sitting pretty at the top of the table as they have secured their promotion and wrapped up the title well in advance.
The West Midlands club have been head and shoulders above the other teams in the Championship and a lot of credit for that goes to Nuno Espirito Santo. The former Porto boss has brought a new sense of hope among the Wolves fans and backed by new owners, they are preparing to take on the Premier League opponents next season. The owners and the manager will know that the top flight won’t be a cakewalk and they need to improve their squad if they intend on staying there for years to come.
Chances of Fredericks’ move to Wolves will certainly reduce if Fulham themselves manage to secure the promotion to the top flight. It will be interesting to see whether Fredericks will fit into Santo’s plan as he traditionally uses a back three. It might well happen that he can be used as a right midfielder.
If Fulham gets promoted, they will certainly try to keep their core players and it might happen that Fredericks is given a new contract with the Cottagers. Fredericks has also been linked with a move to Arsenal and if a big club like them come into the picture then both Fulham and Wolves won’t be able to keep their man.

Fredericks is known for his pace and trickery down the right flank and he has also featured in the right midfield department. However, sometimes his decision making in the final third is not up to the mark and that is why he is primarily used as a right back. It will be interesting to see where Santo will use him or change his preferred tactics to accommodate the English defender if they make a move for him in the transfer market.
