West Brom have been placed with the best odds to sign the out-of-favour Paris Saint-Germain winger, Hatem Ben Arfa.
Ben Arfa’s 2017/18 season has mostly been spent on benches of Parc des Princes and is slowly disintegrating into woeful lengths in the Ligue 1. His contract with the Parisians will run out after this campaign and Baggies could pick him up on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old signed with PSG back in the summer of 2016 but has managed to appear in only 32 games since. His chances further decreased when Neymar and Kylian Mbappe made their way over from Barcelona and AS Monaco in the last summer window.
The Frenchman is not unaware of the challenges of English football either, having spent 4 seasons with Newcastle United and one out on loan at Hull City. He has racked up 13 goals and 13 assists in his 84 total appearances with the Magpies.
He was a massive hit at the St James’ Park and was finally breaking strides in the European top-flight. Major clubs from the continent were taking notice of the winger’s incredible technical and playmaking abilities.
Things were finally taking the turn for the better until a major injury crisis snatched all prospects of future stardom away from the Frenchman. Ben Arfa spent the last 2 seasons at Tyneside either rehabbing those recurring injuries or trying to earn his keep with the starting XI.
The Tigers were not able to offer him much in terms of an escape either and the speedster was finally done away with in the winter of 2015. He returned to his home country and signed with OGC Nice, although he was ineligible to play out the rest of the season due his past association with two clubs.
He played in 34 games for the French outfit and again proved his doubters wrong with 18 goals and 7 assists. At the time, PSG were looking to recruit big names from all over Europe and Ben Arfa’s experience looked highly promising.
It is a shame to see him waste his prime years on the benches and West Brom should waste no time in offering him a new deal. Albion’s relegation to the Championship is almost confirmed at this point and many of their first team stars could be out of Hawthorns, come July.

Ben Arfa will not only fill the void but he will bring an offensive pedigree that no other player at his price range might be able to add to the Baggies’ squad. So it will be a good decision for West Brom to go all out to sign the French attacker and add to their firepower for the next term.
