Swansea City are being linked to Rangers defender James Tavernier. Tavernier is an exciting fullback and has racked up 25 goals and 40 assists in his 137 appearances for the Gers. Such numbers are mind-boggling for a defender and after such performances, he is bound to be linked with some of the clubs from the top divisions.
According to reports, Swansea City aren’t the only club that are after his signature as the likes of Burnley and Everton are also lining up to sign him. The move can, however, hinge on Swansea’s survival in the English top flight. Currently, they are one point better of 18th placed Southampton and everything depends on their crucial tie against the Saints.
Carlos Carvalhal has done a terrific job at the Liberty Stadium. At one stage in the season, Swansea were pretty much favourites for the drop. However, his job is not yet done as the Saints have come back into form in their last few games. If Swansea survives, they will look to add more players to have a better campaign in the 2018-19 season and the signing of James Tavernier will certainly go a long way in bolstering their squad.
James Tavernier started his career at St. James’s Park but had six loan spells in his 5-year stint with other clubs. He later joined Wigan Athletic on a permanent basis but his stay lasted there for just one year. It was at the Scottish club Rangers where he found his permanent feet and has been a revelation for them since then.
Premier league clubs are vying for him but he is contracted to stay at the Ibrox stadium until 2019. Swansea currently have 3 options in the right-back role with Kyle Naughton being the first choice starter. Naughton has done well for them defensively but in the modern day, one would want more attacking output from their fullbacks.

The English fullback will be a great addition to the Swans but the move might not happen if they go down as the player will have an ambition of playing in the top division of a country. At Rangers, he has been a success but as a team, the Light Blues have fallen behind to their rivals off late and that could be one of the reasons for Tavernier to try to move out of the Ibrox in the near future.
