Football is a game played more with the head than with the feet. The quickness of the mind counts for more than the sharpness of the feet at the highest level. The best athletes fall short on the pitch under pressure and that is what makes this game so special.
As if this was not enough, there is another aspect of the game that makes it worth watching more than anything else. It is the emotional quotient related to every single minute of the ninety. Fans cheering, teammates encouraging and opponents riling the player up; everything plays a part.
The latest example is Celtic’s 20-year-old star, Odsonne Edouard. The forward is on loan at Celtic from Paris Saint Germain and has enjoyed a fantastic season at Scotland. He scored twice in Celtic’s 5-0 title-winning match against their arch-rivals Rangers and it seems to have triggered in him, a deep-rooted love for the club.
“I’m going to remember this all my life because it’s my first title,” he said. “I’m very happy for the team and for myself. To be able to win the title against Rangers in front of our fans, it was a pleasure for everyone.”
He also had encouraging words for his senior striker. “Me and Moussa speak a lot,” he said. “Every match we usually talk to each other before the match, whoever is playing. Moussa had a message of encouragement for me before the game.
“Every match is different,” he said. “What Moussa did last season was extraordinary. But this match is a different environment, it’s a different context. I just went out there and did what I know how to do and play my game. I’m happy to be on the scoresheet and in the end we’ve won the game – that’s what’s important.”
The player has now issued a plea to Celtic asking them to make his move permanent. “What’s most important is that we’ve won the title,” he said. “The season’s not over yet. We still have the Scottish Cup. Hopefully, after that, there will be time for discussing options. I really love this club. If the decision was up to me I’d like to stay. But I can only do so much.”

The player is an exceptional young talent, something Brendan Rodgers is an expert at harnessing the best out of. Moreover, he loves the club and it would be a wonderful team up for both the parties. All that remains now is for Celtic to convince PSG to sell the young forward.
