When Pep Guardiola came in last season, he was expected to revolutionise the way Manchester City play. He failed to deliver anything of substance in his first season but has contested his way to win the Premier League with a record number of points this season. Guardiola made a number of changes, especially in the defensive department as he wants his defensive players to be good on the ball so that they can start the attack from the back.
As soon as the Spaniard came in, he replaced Joe Hart as he felt that the English stopper wasn’t up to the mark especially with his distribution abilities and he brought in Claudio Bravo from his former club Barcelona. However, Brave was out of sorts for Manchester City as he kept making one error after another. It was weird to see Bravo struggle so much in the Premier League as he was an acclaimed goalkeeper for his club and country before.
Pep was ruthless in his approach as he brought in another big money goalkeeper in Ederson from Benfica for £35m. Another club would have given a chance to the Chilean stopper for one more season at least but Guardiola and the City board wanted instant success. The move paid off as the Brazillian has been instrumental between the sticks for the Citizens. As a result, Bravo has played second fiddle to him and he is being linked with a move to Napoli.
Napoli can lose out on their Spaniard custodian Pepe Reina to AC Milan. As a result, they are on the lookout for a replacement between the sticks and they have zeroed in on the out-of-favour City goalkeeper. However, his wage could be the biggest obstacle in bringing him to Italy as he currently earns £100,000-a-week.
Bravo is known for his shot stopping and leadership abilities and he has been instrumental in his country’s success in winning the Copa America twice. He is also good with his distribution skills and can play the role of a sweeper keeper. Manchester City fans might disagree with this but one shouldn’t judge a player on just one bad season.

Napoli could be on their way to an improbable win in the Serie A. That would certainly make the Serie A giants a good destination for the Chilean stopper as he would like to play some first team football to remind everyone of his abilities. Even with a pay cut, he should make a move to the Italian side as he would get to play day in and day out and will also be able to take part in the Champions League.
