Manchester United are hoping to secure the signature of Fiorentina wide man Federico Chiesa this summer. According to recent reports, the Italian youngster is being linked with a move to Old Trafford when the transfer window opens in the summer. However, the Serie A club will demand a hefty fee in the region of £44m for their prized asset. The 20-year-old winger, who is the son of former Italian forward Enrico Chiesa, has put in some eye-catching displays in the Italian top-flight this season which has not gone unnoticed.
Some sources are claiming that Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in the Fiorentina player and will provide stiff competition for the Red Devils. The Premier League trio are keeping tabs on Chiesa’s progress at Florence ahead of a potential move at the end of the current season. It is also believed that Napoli are keeping an eye on him as well which means that any club willing to sign him would have to meet Fiorentina’s valuation of the player.
Chiesa has made 34 appearances for the Serie A side this season, scoring 6 goals while grabbing 7 assists in all competitions. At 20, he has incredible potential and would be a great addition to Jose Mourinho’s squad if United are willing to give him a shot at Old Trafford.
The Reds of Manchester are lying in the second spot of the Premier League standings with a healthy tally of 74 points after Gameweek 35. They have also managed to book their place in the FA Cup final where they will face off against Antonio Conte’s Chelsea in May.
The addition of Chiesa will undoubtedly bolster Jose Mourinho’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Manchester United have the likes of Antonio Valencia, Juan Mata, Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial vying for a place in Mourinho’s senior squad. The potential acquisition of Chiesa will definitely improve their squad significantly and add more competition for places within the United team.
