Everton are interested in signing Swansea City‘s South Korean star Ki Sung -Yueng. The midfielder’s contract is ending this summer and The Toffees seems to be in line to get his signature. However, it won’t be easy for them to bring the Korean as he is being monitored by various other clubs.
Everton fans were hoping for a promising season as they signed some big money players like Jordan Pickford, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Davy Klaassen to revamp the side. They also got Wayne Rooney back to his childhood club and there was a sense of optimism among the Toffees. However, things didn’t go as per plan as their new signings failed to gel together in short period of time and they were starting to hover around the relegation zone. On the back of a plethora of poor results, the highly rated Dutch tactician, Ronald Koeman, was shown the door and the Merseyside club appointed the experienced Sam Allardyce.
Big Sam has certainly done some good work with the team as they are currently in the top half of the table. However, the fans would be disappointed with the overall season as it was expected that the Toffees will challenge for Europa League spot at least.
As the end of the season is approaching, Everton, once again, are being linked with a host of other players including the Swansea City ace as the new owners have indicated that they are ready to spend big in the transfer window.
Ki Sung is a central midfielder who looks to dictate the game from the middle of the park. He can use both his feet but is predominantly right foot. The Korean international is known for his calm and composed distribution skills and his core role in the team has been that of a creator.
He is not known too much for his defensive ability but he reads the game well and hence is able to nick the ball every now and then from the opposition. He is not one of those young talents as he is 29 but he has been a key member of the Swans in their time in the English top flight.

Everton can certainly do with a player like him as they will love to have someone in the midfield who can dictate the play. Rooney was used as a striker in the early half of the season but now he is predominantly used in the attacking midfield and central midfield role. However, the once English poster boy is having an inconsistent season. The young Tom Davies hasn’t been able to step up this season and the Toffees could move for the Swansea City midfielder in the next summer to bring more strength in the middle of the park.
