Chelsea are interested in securing the signature of AS Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan this summer. According to recent reports, the Blues are lining up a move for the Belgian international when the transfer window opens in the summer. The West London outfit could be looking to undergo a summer overhaul of their squad after failing to challenge in the English top-flight this season. They are on the lookout to add some quality players this summer in order to challenge for major silverware in the next campaign.
The Belgian midfielder has enjoyed a rich vein of form in recent weeks and has put in some dazzling displays for AS Roma during the course of this season. Some sources are now claiming that Antonio Conte’s team are trying to seal a move for him this summer. However, they would face stiff competition from Arsenal and Manchester United in pursuit of the Serie A midfield ace’s signature.
In a recent interview, Nainggolan addressed his future and was quoted to have said, “I’ve never won anything, but I think that for those who know me, I’ve always played to win.
“Sometimes I prefer to take the hardest path. It would be too easy to go to a winning team and win.
“For me, it’s better to be a leading light for a less-favoured team and win with them.
“I chose Roma for that reason too. It’s an important club, and a club like Roma deserve to win something important.”
The West Londoners are currently lying in the 6th place in the league rankings with a tally of 63 points after 34 fixtures in the English top-flight this season. They have also managed to get themselves through to the final of the FA Cup and are now in with great chance to end their campaign with some silverware.
The addition of Nainggolan will undoubtedly bolster Conte’s midfield options ahead of the new campaign. The Blues have the likes of N’Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater and Tiémoué Bakayoko vying for a place in Conte’s senior team. The potential acquisition of Nainggolan will definitely improve their squad and add more competition for places within the Chelsea team.

The Belgian international has made 38 appearances for AS Roma this season, scoring 4 goals and providing 9 assists in all competitions. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Naiggolan and whether he ends up plying his trade at Stamford Bridge next season.
