Derby County, the English Championship side are being linked to Birmingham City loanee Viv Solomon Otabor. Otabor is currently plying his trade for Blackpool and has been a regular for them this season, making 42 appearances for them so far. At the beginning of the current season, Harry Redknapp, the ex-Birmingham manager had told the winger that he didn’t feature into his plans and thereby sanctioned his loan move to the Seasiders.
Derby County are currently sixth in the English Championship and are in with a chance of qualifying for the playoffs. They are being chased by Millwall as they are just two points behind them and the race for playoffs could intensify as the season draws to an end.
The Nigerian winger has a sublime burst of pace and a number of tricks up his sleeves. Gary Rowett, the current Derby manager, has already managed the Nigerian when he was with Birmingham from 2014 to 2016. He had lavished huge praise on him then and it seems the manager wants to reunite with his former player.
When he was at Birmingham, in 2016, Rowett had said-”I think Viv is more established but I think you would still add Viv to that list of good up and coming players.” Although, the winger hasn’t burst onto the scene as his manager had expected but still he is good enough to play for a top half Championship side.
He has been at Birmingham since 2014 and has been sent on three different loan spells during his time with the Blues. Birmingham will surely be looking to keep their man as he has developed into a good player after his loan stints. However, if a team like Derby come in for him in the summer, he might be lured as the Rams have more chances of making it to the Premier League. Apart from them, West Ham has also shown interest in the Nigerian winger as they are looking to bring backup for the injury-prone attacking midfielder Michail Antonio.

Derby County can currently do with a player like Viv Solomon Otabor as he has been devastating down the wings. On top of that, he has good defensive work rate as he is always willing to help his team by tracking back. However, if West Ham United come into the picture, they might lure the Nigerian international to English top flight football.
