Newcastle United are being linked to talented Bournemouth striker Josh King. The 27-year-old has had a relatively below-par season for the Cherries. He was instrumental in the 2016-17 season for them but he hasn’t had the same impact this term.
Newcastle have seen a mercurial rise in the Premier League as they have won their last 4 games out of 5. A run like that has ensured their spot in the Premier League as they were expected to be in a relegation scrap at this point in time but they are currently sitting in top half of the table. Rafael Benitez deserves a lot of credit for this turnaround as he has developed this side into a disciplined and defensively organised.
The Cherries are also relatively safe for another season in the Premier League as Eddie Howe is continuing the good work at the Vitality stadium. Howe acquired the experienced Jermaine Defoe in the summer to give more attacking output in the team and as a result, Josh King’s minutes in the playing eleven has reduced. Even Callum Wilson has had a better goalscoring return this season. So King might be on the lookout for a new club in the summer.
The Magpies were struggling to score goals in the early part of the season but Benitez made a tactical switch, which has paid a lot of dividends to the team. Benitez was using either Joselu or Dwight Gayle as the lone striking option. But of late, the introduction of Ayoze Perez has changed their fortunes in front of the goal. The strike partnership upfront has solved their goal-scoring woes as the Magpies have looked more threatening up front.
The change in fortune has mainly happened due to Ayoze Perez and the likes of Joselu and Dwight Gayle haven’t been up to the mark. Gayle was instrumental in bringing back the Magpies in the Premier League but he has struggled ever since. Josh King will be a great option for Benitez as he will suit well into the current system.

The reports suggest that King can cost as much as £20m and one feels like it will be a good investment for the Newcastle team. The striker started his career at Manchester United but wasn’t able to break through to the first team. The Tyneside club has had goal scoring issues but with a signing like King, they can do better in the Premier League and can continue to improve their position in English top flight.
