Newcastle United defender, Curtis Good is on the lookout for a new club following the end of his contract after this season. The Magpies have kept him on their books for the last 6 years and the association has been less than illustrious.
Good has undergone recurring injuries throughout his Tyneside career, the hip being the most problematic. The unfortunate spell on the sidelines began from the International matchup against Ecuador on 5th March 2014.
Ever since the 25-year-old has either had spent the majority of his minutes in the physio room or with the United reserve team. Rafael Benitez’s reluctance to feature the centre-back is understandable, especially in the pace Premier League teams play at.
Good was quoted, “I definitely will be moving on. It’ll be good for a change, obviously getting back to playing senior football is the biggest thing for me, the next step. I definitely want to stay in the UK.”
“I want to give it another crack at the highest level. I feel like I had a great opportunity that was upset with my situation. It’ll be nice to go trial somewhere if the opportunity comes up. The biggest thing is people seeing that you can play, and I’ve played over 20 games this season. I’d like to come home, but maybe when I’m older.”
Curtis Good was once a highly promising defender to have come out of Australian outfit, Melbourne Heart. He did have a few senior team appearances for Bradford City and Dundee United while on loan but his involvement was nothing more than sporadic.
If the early scouting reports of Newcastle are still true, maybe a few clubs in the lower divisions of England should take a chance on him, maybe as one of the role players who could fill in from the benches.
Blackburn Rovers
Other than Charlie Mulgrew, Darragh Lenihan an on-loan Paul Downing, the Riversiders do not have any backup option. They have just confirmed their promotion to the Championship and will be needing appropriate squad depth to compete for survival.
Sunderland
Both Jake Clarke-Salter and Tyias Browning will be returning to Chelsea and Everton respectively, following the Black Cats’ relegation to the League One. Limited with low financial prowess, Good could be a cheap pickup who could provide backup to the veteran, John O’Shea.

Charlton Athletic
Ezri Konsa is a highly admired prospect in the Addicts and could be out of the club if promotion is not earned through the playoffs. Athletic should be lining up replacements and Good could be the ideal one.
