Another speculative story has come out of the Eden Hazard to Real Madrid saga. The Chelsea star moved to London back in 2012 but has been long since been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu. The suggestions have grown in stature every season for a player who has been long since earmarked by the Madrid hierarchy.
The latest reports are now confirming that Hazard’s proposed move to Madrid could be dependent on whether Madrid’s Welsh star Gareth Bale opts to leave the club. The Welshman entered Madrid in 2013 after being a superstar with Tottenham Hotspur for over two seasons. He left England as the PFA Player of the Year and was destined to be a star at Madrid.
However, he was unable to overcome the shadow of the iconic Cristiano Ronaldo who continues to rule at the Bernabeu. Bale’s career has also been hampered by unfortunate recurring injuries which have seen him lose his regular sharpness. However, by no means has the Welsh speedster been poor with his goal and assist returning averaging at over 0.9 per match.
However, at Madrid, the case is never simple and it is almost impossible for a player to overcome the negative light and Bale continues to be a victim of that. He has also been overlooked by current boss not only in favour of the first-team star like Isco and Asensio but also young players like Lucas Vazquez.
This has left him frustrated and he could be on the move. Hazard’s deal proposes that Chelsea could be offered a straight swap between Hazard and Bale and the Blues will have to take a call. While leaving Hazard makes no sense for them, the decision might not be entirely up to them with Hazard coy about his own future.
He has been splendid for Chelsea but continues to flatter to deceive on occasions. His consistency has been the only agenda on the cards that have stopped him from challenging the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
