Watford started off their season brightly but the team has slowly fallen off the radar. They have registered just a single point in their last 5 games. However, they sit comfortably at the 12th spot even after such poor results and will be expected to survive in the Premier League for one more season at least.
They will be taking on Crystal Palace who are coming on the back of a win against Brighton & Hove Albion. Palace has resurrected themselves since Hodgson took charge. At the start of the season, they were expected to go down as they didn’t manage to register a single point in the first seven games. But since then they have come a long way and are currently favourites to survive in the Premier League.
Watford, on the other hand, are having an inconsistent season. Their form has been poor lately but that could largely be down to the fact that they don’t have much to play for as they are pretty much safe from relegation as of now. But things can quickly change if they lose against Palace as they are just three points behind them.
Watford is having a few injury concern over some of their first team players. Tom Cleverley, Nathaniel Chalobah, Younes Kaboul and Gerard Deulofeo are all out due to various injuries and according to recent reports, Garcia has confirmed that some of their players are down with ‘stomach virus’. All this is not good news for the Hornets as they still need few points to be hundred percent sure of survival.
This is how they might line up in their clash against Crystal Palace (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Orestis Karnezis has become the first choice lately for the Hornets as Gomes has made some costly errors and Karnezis will be expected to start. Prodl has done well for most parts this season and will be by Cathcart in the centreback position.Mariappa will play down the left as the Holebas is still not hundred percent. Janmaat will complete the back four and will be starting in the right back position.
Midfield
Etienne Capoue and Abdoulaye Doucoure will control the game from the middle of the pitch. Doucoure has been a revelation of a sort this season for Watford as he has managed to score seven times this season. The attacking output in midfield will be provided by Pereyra, Richarlison and Femenia.
