Newcastle United who are on a high currently as they have won four back to back games in the Premier League are being linked to the highly rated Porto striker Vincent Aboubakar. Aboubakar has previously been linked with the Toons but the deal never materialised.
Newcastle United could have been shrewd and got their man in the previous transfer window as getting him now would be tough for them as big clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool etc are also on the lookout for him. One cannot blame the clubs for flogging at the striker as he has scored 15 goals from 25 starts for the Portuguese outfit.
Newcastle United were expected to be in a relegation scrap at this point in time but they have seen a meteoric rise in their performance since the turn of the year. Benitez has been able to inspire his men and they have crossed the magical 40 point mark with 5 games to spare. They are sitting comfortably at the tenth spot with 41 points after their recent win against the much fancied Arsenal.
A lot of good players in the last few years have come out from the Portuguese league. Players like James Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao, Angel Di Maria, David Luiz, Nemanja Matic etc all were noticed on their performance based in this league. Aboubakar is one such talent and a host of Premier League team don’t want to miss out on him.
Newcastle might have survived the relegation scare but they have lacked firepower in the attacking department this season. The likes of Dwight Gayle and Joselu haven’t provided them with enough goals. Benitez builds his team on strong defensive organisation but the fans would demand more from him next season as they would want Newcastle to play some exciting football upfront.

Aboubakar can certainly provide that excitement at St. James’s Park next season as he has that goal scoring ability. He has also managed to score 5 goals in his six Champions League appearances this season and can provide Rafael Benitez with an attacking edge. He has a strong physical presence and has a natural goal scoring instinct. He can really be a good option if paired with some fast tricky striker to play behind him. The Toons already have that man in Ayoze Perez and a partnership between him and Aboubakar can be really lethal for their opponents.
