Arsenal are set to be looking for new acquisitions in the summer, especially in the defensive department as they have struggled with it this season. They are being linked to the highly rated Fulham defender Ryan Fredricks. Fredricks started his career in Tottenham Hotspur youth academy and now could turn out for Arsenal if Wenger decides to make a move for him.
Arsenal has faced a lot of defensive issues this season as the likes of Mustafi, Koscielny and Bellerin have had a below par season. Mustafi has come into a lot of criticisms lately and he has found it tough going at the Emirates this season.
Arsenal are currently pretty much out of contention in the top 4 race and they could be overtaken by Burnley as the Clarets are just two points behind them. Arsenal has lately been concentrating on the Europa League as that is the only way they can qualify for a Champions League Spot. Arsenal are yet to register a single point away from home in 2018 and that is a sorry state for the once mighty Londoners.
Fredericks’s contract is expiring at the end of the season and Wenger will be looking to bring in some competition for the Arsenal right-back Bellerin. He is primarily a right-back but is also adept at playing in the right midfield as well as the left back position. He is known for his blistering pace and trickery but sometimes he doesn’t choose the right pass or make a right decision when he is good positions.
Fredericks has regularly featured for Fulham this season and has been instrumental for them as Fulham are at a third spot in the Championship and are just one point off Cardiff City having played a game more.Fredericks can be interested in a move to the Premier League if Fulham doesn’t get promoted. Even if they do get promoted a move to a club like Arsenal will be tough to decline for the 25-year-old.

We have often seen Wenger picking players from the Championship and League one and introducing them to the Premier League. Some current notable names who arrived at Arsenal from the lower division are Aaron Ramsey, Carl Jenkinson and Rob Holding. Wenger has been giving them enough number of chances this season and for somebody like Fredericks Arsenal would be a good move as they are keen on promoting young talents. Bellerin has had an inconsistent season and it will be interesting to see whether Wenger goes for a Championship player or a big money signing.
