Arsene Wenger may have had his doubters over the years but the Frenchman has some ways of life which he sticks to no matter what. When Wenger first came to the club at Arsenal, he set new rules that provided a revolution. It led to great results with Arsenal winning multiple trophies over the next decade and producing a near perfect team.
The Gunners, however, lost their way after that. Since their trophy doubt began in around 2006, they have won just 3 FA Cups. A not so handsome return for a man of such high novelty. It would seem Wenger does not know what he is doing. However, despite facing so many charges for not winning, there are two things which even the fiercest Wenger haters will agree to about the French coach. When he wins, he wins in style and he will always allow young players to express themselves and flourish under his tutelage.
In his rule at North London, which recently crossed the two-decade mark, he has produced young talents like Theo Walcott, Cesc Fabregas, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Robin Van Persie, Samir Nasri to name a few. Amongst his finest hits would be the likes of Thierry Henry and Ashley Cole.
The man simply loves to let youngster grow and Arsenal has become one of the ideal clubs for young players to develop. The likes of Alex Iwobi, Maitland-Niles are the ones from the present generation who are carrying forward the tag now.
It was hence surprising to see Ben Afobe leave Arsenal and move on to other clubs in England. One would have thought a kid who could not succeed in Arsenal would surely not do it anywhere else. However, the striker has had a flourishing campaign with the Wolves this season.
At Wolves, he is not the number one striker but is surely counted on as an important member of the group by coach Nuno Espirito Santo. The Portuguese coach was given a handsome amount of money to invest and bring in new players. He did exactly that and that is what makes Afobe’s rise even more prominent.
He is currently on loan at Wolves. This is what he had to say.
Speaking about his future, Afobe said: “Obviously I’m contracted to Bournemouth, I’ve had a great time there and I’m only on loan.
“I’ve got to show respect to Bournemouth so we’ll have to look and see what happens in the summer. It has been great here from day one and to be top of the league and promoted with three games is to go is unreal.
“The manager and staff have been great and it’s been an unbelievable experience.”
