It is often noticed that when a club goes down, they lose most of their star players. While in some cases, the player simply leaves because he wants to continue his career at a place which has a better opportunity, in other cases, it is that the player actually deserves to play at a higher level and a club with better players.
This was the case for Hull City and Harry Maguire. When Hull got relegated last season, they lost stars like Andrew Robertson and Maguire. Maguire made a move to join Leicester City where he has become a star player. He has formed a rock solid partnership with club captain Wes Morgan at the back and has helped Leicester earn a place in the top half of the table.
Maguire has been beyond impressive and a solid hit in the club. He has played some excellent football and has caused problems to the top strikers in the league like Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku. Maguire’s physical style of play has seen him give every forward a hard time.
He has a direct approach and likes to take the fight to the opposition rather than sit back and wait for them to come. He has a mean tackle on him and his physical strength is beyond impressive, which he uses very well.
He has played so well in fact that he has earned himself a place in the England national team. The Three Lions set up has fallen short of defenders with Captain Gary Cahill way off form and looking unlikely to make the squad. With the 2018 FIFA World Cup coming up in two months, England need to sort out their defensive issues at the centre back position and Maguire is quite a strong considerable option for Southgate to look at.

Maguire’s great form has seen him attract interest from top clubs in England, as was predictable. It is being reported that Leicester City have slapped a stunning £50m price tag on his head to ward off suitors. They are reportedly sure of the fact that clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in their star defender and have accordingly put a heavy tag on him. However, with clubs spending money left, right and centre, Leicester should be worried that someone might just cough up the money and take him away.
