Wolves are close to agreeing on a permanent move to sign their French centre-back Willy Boly this summer. According to recent reports, the Skybet Championship leaders are planning to turn the French defender’s loan deal into a permanent one when the transfer window opens in the summer. It is believed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are willing to spend £10m to seal a permanent transfer for Boly as they look to build their squad for their return to the English top-flight next season.
Some sources have recently claimed that a deal is in place to sign the Frenchman in the off-season. The news will come as a big boost for the Wolves supporters, who would want to see Boly lace up when they embark upon their Premier League journey in August. The 27-year-old defender has been a rock at the back for Santo’s team and has put in some solid performances during the course of this campaign.
Boly initially arrived at the Molineaux Stadium on a season-long loan deal from FC Porto last summer. It looks increasing likely that Wolves will now sign him on a permanent basis for a fee around £10m this summer. The French defender has also played for AJ Auxerre and Braga before making a switch to FC Porto in 2016.
The West Midlands side has already earned a promotion back to the Premier League and are currently leading their league with a tally of 95 points after 43 league games. They are already reshaping their squad ahead of the summer transfer window with a season in the top tier of English football looming on the horizon.
Retaining some of their star players like Boly could go a long way in helping them cope with the demands of the Premier League next term. The Frenchman has made 35 appearances for Wolves this season, scoring 3 goals while providing 2 assists in all competitions. He has managed to strike a great partnership with Conor Coady and Ryan Bennett at the heart of the Wolves defence which is one of the main reasons why they have been so successful in this campaign.
