Rangers are prepared to suspend their skipper Lee Wallace after having a fall-out with the club’s manager Graeme Murty following their disappointing 4-0 defeat at the hands of local rivals Celtic on Sunday. It is believed that the Scottish full-back is likely to have played his last match for the Gers despite the fact that his contract is set to expire at the end of next season.
Some sources are claiming that there will be an internal investigation held by the Glaswegian side to look into Wallace’s contract but the feeling is that he is on the verge of an early exit from the Ibrox Stadium. The 30-year-old directed his anger towards Murty after the Hoops comfortably beat them with a 4-0 scoreline last weekend in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup. It is understood that the Gers boss was fuming at his behaviour and has asked the club to part ways with Wallace as soon as possible.
With Wallace set to leave the Teddy Bears soon, let’s take a look at three potential replacements for Murty to consider in the off-season.
Arthur Masuaku
The Gers can look to recruit an experienced full-back who has played in the Premier League as in the case of this West Ham United left-back. The 24-year-old has been in majestic form for the Hammers this season and has made 28 appearances for the East London side across all competitions, scoring once and providing three assists. His league form in the English top-flight suggests that he could turn out to be a great asset for the Teddy Bears if they decided to opt for his services in the near future.
Joe Bryan
The Bristol City full-back has put in some sensational performances this season which included a memorable man-of-the-match display versus Manchester United in his side’s triumph over the Red Devils in the quarterfinals of the League Cup. The 24-year-old defender has featured in 45 matches for Bristol City this term, scoring five goals and creating three assists across all competitions. The Championship star will be a perfect fit for Graeme Murty’s playing style at the Ibrox Stadium. At 24, he still has his peak years ahead of him, which the Teddy Bears could look to utilise in the coming years.

Ryan Sessegnon
The Fulham left-back has been in outstanding form this season which has seen him get nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award. The youngster has featured in 46 matches for the London club this term, finding the back of the net 14 times while also providing 6 assists in all competitions. The 17-year-old is currently one of the most promising full-backs in English football and the Gers will do well to prize him away from Craven Cottage.
