Farhad Moshiri’s plans for Everton have upscaled to new dimensions as world-famous sports agent, Mino Raiola is being considered for a new position at Goodison Park. It has been reported that the Toffees will call upon the 50-year-old’s expertise in the world of football to find a replacement for Sam Allardyce.
The manager has failed to boost the team over the 8th spot of the Premier League table and is expected to make a club exit following this season. Moshiri only appointed Allardyce to address the incompetence of previous manager, Ronald Koeman.
The former England head coach did succeed in lifting the team out of the relegation spots but is unlikely to see out his 2-season £6m-a-year contract with the club. Moshiri has a dream of seeing his club in the UEFA Champions League one day and for that, he needs to find an able coach.
Investments, he is not shy of as the 62-year-old, who is born of Iranian descent has already sanctioned over £200m in the past two transfer windows and has agreed to spend more. He is well aware of the stance the elites of Europe have taken to compete and win against the best and he plans on following in their shoes.
Both the Manchester clubs have spent over £300m in the past three seasons alone and are currently the top two teams in England. Followed closely by Liverpool who have spent over £150m this campaign.
The blueprint is ideal if the time constraints are short but a European pedigree are also required. All the top-six clubs other than Tottenham Hotspur have some footprint in the European stage with Arsenal being the least impressive.
Tottenham, on the other hand, have built a squad out of a single player transfer (Gareth Bale) and over the past 4 seasons have turned to become one of the top teams of the country. Not to mention the dramatic progression they have showcased in the Champions League this campaign.
Moshiri’s dreams are achievable for all of us hopefuls but it can require a significant amount of time including the backbone of a mastermind of a manager. After all, big players can only do so much without a competitive system around them.
However, to get a world-renowned coach does this exactly needs the services of an agent? Business minds do need always have to conflict with the intangibles of football. Raiola has been successful in representing some of the biggest names of football but how much of his knowledge can directly impact the football aspect of it all.
