Moussa Dembele was touted to leave the Scottish giants Celtic in the January transfer window as he was being linked with the Premier League clubs like Everton and Brighton. The matter didn’t materialise the but with the summer transfer window fast approaching the French forward could be on his way to other clubs.
He has been a vital player for the Brendan Rodgers side. He has scored 14 goals for them this season and he must be looking for a move to bigger and better leagues so that he is more noticeable. Celtic’s boss confirmed once in an interview that there were a ‘couple of inquiries’ made for the young striker in the January transfer window.
One can understand why Dembele wants to move to the Premier League as he will be more noticed there and that will enhance his chance to be picked for the French national team. In a case where he leaves Celtic, we look at three players who can replace him
Dwight Gayle–
Brendan Rodgers will certainly remember this striker from his time in England with Liverpool. Gayle scored twice for Crystal Palace against Liverpool to earn them a 3-3 draw after being 3-0 down. The game ended Liverpool’s and Rodgers title hopes. He was instrumental in getting Newcastle promoted to the Premier League but his performances have been poor this season as he has scored just 5 times this season. Joselu the Spanish striker, was being preferred over him but recently he has formed a decent partnership with Perez. Celtic can go for him if they lose Dembele.
Iheanacho-
The young Nigerian started his promising career with Manchester City but due to lack of game time as he was competing with Aguero for the spot he was sold to Leicester. He scored 21 goals from 64 games for the club and was touted as the next big thing for the club. But Guardiola and the Manchester City board wanted some quick success so he was sold. At Leicester also he has struggled for starts as Vardy and Okazaki have been playing over him. If he goes to Celtic, it will be a good move for both the parties as Iheanacho will be desperate for some game time.

Christian Benteke-
Benteke is a traditional target man and he won’t be an out and replacement for Dembele. Currently, at Crystal Palace, Benteke has seen his stocks go down as he has missed quite a lot of scoring chances this season. Benteke has already played under Rodgers and can provide the much-needed muscle upfront to the Celtic side
