AS Monaco are interested in securing the services of Chelsea midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko this summer. According to recent reports, the French side are plotting a move to bring back their former player when the transfer window opens this summer. Monaco are hoping to re-sign the Paris-born player at the end of the current campaign after selling him to the Blues last summer for a fee in the region of £40m which is the third most expensive transfer in Chelsea’s history.
The 23-year-old has failed to impress at the Stamford Bridge in his first season and has been a sporadic feature in Antonio Conte’s starting eleven so far. He is in dire need of regular first-team football and some sources are now claiming that AS Monaco could provide him with an escape route away from London. The Ligue 1 winner has fallen down the pecking order in West London during the course of this campaign with N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas being preferred to start ahead of him by Conte.
Bakayoko has featured in 37 matches for the Blues this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in all competitions. He has already proven himself in Ligue 1 which is why Monaco can benefit from re-signing him in the off-season.
The West Londoners are currently occupying the 5th position in the Premier League standings with a tally of 60 points in 33 league matches. Conte’s team have recently earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory at the St. Mary’s Stadium this weekend and are still 7 points away from the top 4 places.
The departure of Bakayoko could leave the Blues squad slightly depleted ahead of the new campaign. However, they can reinvest the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of their squad. A move abroad seems like the best option for all parties as the Frenchman will definitely benefit from playing regular football which might give him to the platform to rekindle his old form.

Bakayoko has one international appearance to his name when he featured for the French national team earlier in his career. However, his poor performances this season has hampered his chances of making it to France’s 2018 FIFA World Cup squad for this summer. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Bakayoko and whether he ends up making a switch back to French football in the near future.
