Manchester United have been linked with the talented Sao Paulo teenager Eder Militao. Militao can play in the right-back role as well and can fill up as a holding midfielder also. However, to get his signature Manchester United will have to fight it with Manchester City and Chelsea as they are also interested in the 20-year-old.
According to reports, Chelsea will have a shakeup of their squad after this season as the defending champions are lagging behind a whopping 27 points behind the current league leaders and would be champions Manchester City. Chelsea whose title-winning season was built on the back of strong defensive performance has been poor at the back this season.
Manchester United, on the other hand, will need to do more next year if they want to challenge for the title. Mourinho hasn’t had too bad a season but the fans don’t seem impressed with the Portuguese tactics and playing style. Nevertheless, he is going to stay at United as he signed a new contract in January this year.
According to reports, the £20 million-rated defender has been on Pep Guardiola’s radar as well and he realises that he needs defensive cover to do well in European competitions. Liverpool exposed City’s defence in a half an hour blitz at Anfield where they bombarded City’s goal as they went onto score three in that time.
Militao has been plying his trade in the Brazilian league and coming into the Premier League will be a huge learning curve for him.. With Pep Guardiola, he will be expected to be good on the ball so that they can start the attack from the back. City has already spent a huge amount of money to improve their defence as they brought in John Stones, LaPorte, Mendy, Walker and Danilo. It will be interesting to see whether City will go all out for him if United provide stiff competition to sign him.

United will be a good option for the Brazilian as he can learn and improve himself as a defender under Mourinho. United have done decently at the back but it has been largely down to David De Gea who has made some brilliant last-gasp saves. Smalling has come under a lot of criticism lately and he is expected to move out of United after this season. The young Brazilian can join the squad and learn a lot by playing at a big club like United. Though he won’t be a starter straight away as he will be coming from the Brazilian league and will take time to get used to life in the Premier League.
