Fenerbahce are monitoring the situation of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure this summer. According to recent reports, the Turkish giants are eyeing up a swoop for the Ivory Coast international when the transfer window opens in the summer. The former Barcelona midfielder will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign so it is expected that he will leave the Etihad Stadium and put an end to his eight-year stay in Manchester.
It is believed that the veteran midfielder already has a lot of offers on the table from Chinese clubs but he is eager to stay in Europe and compete at the highest level. Some sources are now claiming that Fenerbahce are keeping tabs on his situation as they want to make a statement by signing a top-class player and Toure fits the bill perfectly.
The 34-year-old has been a sporadic feature for City this season and has mostly been subject to playing in the cup competitions. He has made 13 appearances for the Citizens this season with one assist to his name so far.
The Blues of Manchester are currently leading the Premier League rankings with a healthy 13 point advantage over their nearest rivals, Manchester United going into the final few matches of the season. Guardiola’ team were recently knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Liverpool so they are required to bring in some fresh faces in the summer transfer period to help them in their quest of putting up a better showing in Europe’s premier cup competition next term.
The departure of Yaya Toure won’t affect their squad too much as he was a sporadic feature under Guardiola this season. However, they would need to bring in a suitable replacement who can add more competition for places in the City squad. Toure’s exit could be the best options for all parties as the 34-year-old would look to earn regular game time going into the twilight years of his career.

Toure has a wealth of experience of playing at the top level during his time at Barcelona and now, Manchester City which makes him an ideal fit for Fenerbahce. The Ivorian can also benefit from such a move as he would possibly have the chance of lacing up in the Champions League once again. However, any transfer will be a short-term move considering Toure’s age. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Toure and whether he ends up making a switch to Turkish football in the near future.
