Liverpool who are flying high this season especially because of the performance of their front trio, are linked with Monaco teen sensation Christian Koffi. According to reports, Christian Koffi is yet to agree on terms with Monaco regarding his contract, which is expiring at the end of this season. Koffi will be a free agent after the summer and this has given many clubs a chance to pounce upon the young French teenager.
Koffi is a defensive midfielder and can play as a central midfielder as well. He has also featured out wide in UEFA youth league for Monaco. The Merseyside club was heavily linked with another Monaco player in the January transfer window and it was Thomas Lemar. Lemar was being touted as a replacement for Coutinho who left for Barcelona in the January transfer window this year. The deal didn’t materialise and Lemar stayed at Monaco.
If Koffi signs for Liverpool, he will most probably play in the u-18 team which is managed by none other than Liverpool and English football legend Steven Gerrard. Koffi will have to bide his time in the youth league and the reserves before he gets anywhere close to the first team. So if Liverpool signs him this summer, the move will be for the future as Koffi is still relatively young and improve a lot.
Koffi will be playing alongside some talented players at the u-18 level. Rhian Brewster, who was the highest goalscorer in the last Fifa u-17 world cup, plays in the team and has already been named on the Liverpool bench in a Premier League encounter.
Liverpool in the summer could be in the market for midfielders even though they have already secured the deal of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig. Emre Can will be out of contract this summer and he hasn’t signed a new deal. In his previous press conference, Klopp indicated that the talks with Emre Can are open. Can has been heavily linked to the Italian side Juventus in the recent times. Only time will tell whether he will commit his future at the club.

Koffi is a versatile midfielder and is predominantly used as a defensive midfielder but the fact that he is young he can be moulded in another role as well. Under Steven Gerrard, Koffi can learn and improve quite a lot. When a club like Liverpool comes calling for such a young player there has to be some exceptional talent in the boy and a move to Liverpool could be the right step ahead for Christian Koffi.
