Latest reports are confirming that Javier Hernandez is considering his future at West Ham United. The Mexican joined the Hammers at the beginning of the season and has not enjoyed his time back in England.
Chicharito first made his name in England when he was brought in by Sir Alex Ferguson to Manchester United. The legendary Scottish coach of the Red Devils had a habit of making average players look like star performers.
He used Hernandez’s abilities to the maximum as he made him into the perfect scoring striker at United. The Mexican was never the first choice at the club but he made plenty of impacts nonetheless. He was behind the likes of Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Robin Van Persie all his career at United but his excellent goal to games ratio made him an absolutely vital member for them.
Chicharito was the perfect back up striker. Ferguson very cleverly identified the player’s potential and strong points. Hernandez was never a striker who could hold up the ball or drop deep to get involved in the buildup. No, he was the perfect poacher. A smart fox in the box who could vanish and re-appear at will inside the box.
Ferguson used this ability of his and made Hernandez a terror to deal with. Later on in his career, he moved to Germany to play for Bayer Leverkusen where he made a great impact as well. This earned him a move back to England, this time to London.
West Ham who were flying high at the end of last season, had plenty of reinforcements brought in to the forward line, Hernandez one of them. He was supposed to be the forwards alongside Arnautovic and Carroll to help the Hammers soar higher in the league.
However, things have turned out quite differently for them this season. The Hammers saw their boss Bilic get the axe and new man David Moyes has been struggling to keep them out of relegation. Hernandez’s situation at the club has worsened with the player not getting enough game time.
He has cut a frustrated figure and reportedly is unhappy at the club. This could prompt him to move away. For West Ham, while it may seem not a big loss, the Hammers should still try to keep him as Hernandez always promises goals, something the club is in desperate need of right now.
