According to reports, Ramadan Sobhi, the Stoke city young winger, is looking to play for another club in the next season. His agent also believes that the Egyptian will be playing for a new club. According to him, Ramadan is in great demand and certainly doesn’t see his future at Stoke City.
Stoke City, who are currently in a relegation battle this season will certainly be unhappy with such claims made by the player and his agent. If Stoke goes down, they are sure that Sobhi won’t hang around to help them out next season in the championship. Sobhi joined stoke for a partly transfer fee of £5m. He has started just 18 games since his arrival in July 2016.
On asked about his future on an Egyptian radio station, he replied, ‘’ I have four offers from Premier League clubs for Ramadan, but the offers have not reached Stoke City yet. So far it is not yet clear if Stoke will remain in the Premier League or not. We will see what happens. I will sit down with them in May.”
Ramadan Sobhi is often deployed as a left winger but is adept at playing on either flank. He has also been used as a number 10 and sometimes as a second striker. Ramadan was a regular starter for the Egyptian club Al-Ahly who are currently first in the Egyptian league. He failed to break into Stoke’s first team as he was competing with the likes of Arnautovic, Bojan, Affelay and Shaqiri.
Sobhi’s style of play is not that of a traditional winger. He doesn’t hug the flanks and looks to cross, instead, he likes to drift in the middle and look to influence the play from such position. His core strength is his dribbling skills. He managed to make 93 successful dribbles, an average of 4.1 per game, in his last season with his Egyptian club. He combines his dribbling skills with remarkable agility, as he is competent to make his way out of tight situations.
Ramadan Sobhi has principally been linked with Liverpool where he can join his Egyptian team-mate, Mohammad Salah. If he decides to come to Liverpool, his chances in the first team will be limited as Firmino, Mane and Salah are always going to start ahead of him. Even Lallana who has been injured has found it tough to get regular playing time in this current Liverpool team. Liverpool can use him as a backup option and deploy him in various cup competitions. But we have often seen Jurgen Klopp not making the signing of players who don’t impact his first XI heavily.
