Liverpool have joined the race with Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion for KAA Gent winger, Moses Simon. The 22-year-old has been impressive this season with 5 goals and 2 assists in 25 total appearances.
Rafael Benitez had sent scouts to watch the Nigerian take the pitch against Sweden in the international friendlies and seems to be impressed enough to consider him for the summer. The Reds, on the other hand, might just be monitoring the winger from a distance for now.
Gent are well aware of Simon’s ambitions to one day play in the Premier League and according to The Sun, have already set an asking price of £13m.
The Belgian outfit signed the winger back in January 2015 from AS Trencin, a Slovakian team. Simon hit the ground running right on his arrival and helped Trencin to the League title and the Super Cup trophy. Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s style of play suited him well and the 22-year-old went on to score 17 and assisted 10 in 38 total appearances.
Simon hails from the prestigious GBS academy in Nigeria which also produced the talents of Leicester City and CSKA Moscow striker, Ahmed Musa. The winger also had a short spell with Ajax after signing a pre-contractual agreement on 10 May 2013.
Moses Daddy represented the reserve team of the Dutch outfit on a few occasions and was also linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur earlier. He has been capped 17 times for the Nigeria national team till date and is expected to travel to Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
This obviously will motivate Liverpool and all the interested parties to push for a transfer before a season end. We all are aware of the massive price hike that occurs after players prove themselves on the world’s centre stage.
Jurgen Klopp is on the hunt for summer additions and Simon will be far cheaper than the likes of Thomas Lemar and Christian Pulisic. Ever since Philippe Coutinho left the Anfield side, Liverpool have been short-staffed in the creative department.
If it was not for Mohamed Salah and his mercurial scoring form, Klopp and his men could have been in trouble as far as their seasonal ambitions are concerned. Now the Reds are comfortably placed in the top-four of the Premier League and are set to clash with Manchester City in the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Champions Leauge.

It will be wise to build on this success and look for quality replacements for the Brazilian number 10. Liverpool already have a spree of African talent in Salah, Sadio Mane and now Naby Keita, who is set to arrive from RB Leipzig following this season. Simon will be at home under the attacking system that Klopp has put in place.
