Leicester City are in a head-way battle with Wolves and West Ham United for Hartlepool starlet, Harrison Webster. The player is just 15 years old and has already drawn the eyes of the Premier League big guns.
It is understood by Team Talk that the player has already gone through a trial with the Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Molineux side have the best chances of landing him. Not much has been revealed about the player but various sources indicate that he is one to catch the eye from the left-back position.
Obviously, Leicester will have to fight it out with the current Championship leaders before the end of the season. The player obviously cannot be signed up to a professional contract yet but can be added to the club’s youth academy.
The Foxes already have one of the best development systems in the country having been granted a category one status, the highest level under the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan. The academy might not be the most illustrated as per the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea or West Ham but it definitely is one of those most productive ones in East Midlands. Players like Emile Heskey, Peter Shilton, David Nish and Steve Whitworth have emerged from the Leicester academy and later went on to represent England on the international stage.
After a 6th place finish in the 2013/14 Professional Developmental U21 League, the Foxes were granted promotion to the Premier League International Cup. They drew against Manchester City, Benfica and Schalke and were successful in progressing to the knockout stages of the competition.
The Leicester U18 side are currently placed in the 5th spot of the League table, behind Swansea City, Southampton, Chelsea and Arsenal with 26 points. They beat Fulham by 2 goals to 1 and are set to face Arsenal on the 7th of April.
The Foxes senior team has also given way to a lot of young players over the past few transfer windows. Demarai Gray was picked up from Birmingham when he was just 19 and is already a regular in the starting XI. Players like Ben Chilwell, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho have carved out important roles ever since their arrival.
The club has risen to top-tier status in the Premier League ever since their title win in the 2015/16 season. They are currently staged in the 8th spot of the points table and are well poised to finish there.

Obviously, clubs need to build around their success and somehow find a way to make their presence felt in the top-flight. The best way to do that is to keep developing young talent and signing one of the most highly rated ones is the optimal way to go about things.
