Dele Alli is among a host of Tottenham Hotspur players, who are set to be rewarded to long-term deals, come season end. Mauricio Pochettino will also be handed out a generous deal and this could go a long way in securing the club’s title-challenging status in the Premier League.
Alli scored a brace in the club’s 1-3 triumph over Chelsea on the weekend and is poised to travel to Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He took the lead for the North London club in spectacular fashion and secured the third amidst a scramble in the penalty box to put his side 5-point clear of the Blues.
Alli is one of the greatest success stories to have delved from the low divisions of English football. Five years back, Alli was nowhere near top-flight football and was not in any sort of spotlight.
He was making regular team appearances for the MK Dons senior team and impressed enough to get a call-up to the White Hart Lane. He was one of Mauricio Pochettino’s rare finds who seems to have undergone a meteoric rise in his professional career.
Alli has cemented his first-team spot in the Spurs lineup with 138 total appearances, 42 goals and 40 assists to his name. He can be fielded in almost any position on the offensive end of the pitch and this makes Pochettino’s job easier.
The 21-year-old has an air of rebellious confidence around him along with an endless bag of skills under his feet. The player is a jack-of-all-trades in the middle of the park and is remarkably good in some.
His scoring instincts are similar to that of a centre-forward’s and his distribution abilities are as good as some of the game’s best creative players. He is not short on the defensive end either, often being delegating to ball-winning responsibilities by Pochettino.
Tottenham’s rise to a top-four club has been aided by the impressive talent pool Pochettino has allocated over the years. The team is full of young and exuberant players like Alli, Christian Eriksen, Davinson Sanchez and Harry Kane.

Tying down their services is the best way of ensuring the club’s future ambitions.
