Manchester United are prepared to let their French forward Anthony Martial leave in order to fund a move to bring Real Madrid speedster Gareth Bale back to the Premier League in the summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils will use the money generated from the sale of the French international to convince Los Blancos to part ways with their Welsh wizard.
It is believed that United boss Jose Mourinho has finally run out of patience with Martial after the French ace has failed to consistently produce the goods at Old Trafford during the course of this season. The 22-year-old forward signed for the Red Devils in the summer of 2015 for a reported fee in the region of £36m which could rise to £58m. He has been a sporadic feature in Mourinho’s first-team in this campaign and now, the Portuguese manager is ready to cash in on his services this off-season with Juventus showing interest in signing him.
Some sources are now claiming that the Manchester outfit will look to use the funds generated for his potential transfer to arrange a deal for Bale. It is understood that the Red Devils have enquired about the availability of the Welsh winger in each of the past three summer transfer windows only for the Galacticos to insist that their 28-year-old forward was not for sale. However, their stance has now changed as the reigning European champions believe that Bale is too injury-prone which is why he has missed too many matches over the last few years.
Los Blancos are bracing themselves for a summer overhaul of their squad and Zinedine Zidane’s side could let the Wales international leave for a fee around £80m. Bale has made 29 appearances for the La Liga giants this season, scoring 12 goals and grabbing 7 assists across all competitions. He is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the frontline. The former Spurs player can play on either flank or in the number 10 position which makes him perfect fit for Mourinho’s United.
However, letting someone of the calibre of Martial depart could significantly deplete their squad for the future as the Frenchman has the potential to be a Premier League superstar in the coming years. Martial has featured in 40 matches for the Red Devils this season, finding the back of the net 11 times while making 10 assists in all competitions. United should do all they can to keep hold of his talents for the immediate future as he could help them close the gap to City going into the new campaign.
