Sunderland have been enduring an unconvincing run of form for quite some time now and there is no denying that they have flattered to deceive in the Championship this season. They are placed rock-bottom in the league standings with merely 28 points to their name from 38 games and the axe of relegation is seemingly likely to fall on them at the end of the season.
The Black Cats have lost their last three league fixtures and are due to face Derby County on Saturday. With an eight-point gap separating them from the rendezvous zone, it apparently seems to be pretty humungous to curtail in the business end of the season as they have some really tough fixtures lying ahead of them. Besides, Chris Coleman hasn’t been prolific with his tactical nous either.
Coleman needs to restructure his side in the summer and has to make some tough calls to strengthen his side. Some of his key players are expected to vouch for an outfit if they get relegated to League One. Most importantly, the gaffer has to start finding some quality players who can help him in his endeavours next season irrespective of whether they get demoted or not.
As per one of the latest reports by Birmingham Mail, Sunderland are perceived to have put Bradford City’s youngster, Jeremie Milambo, on their radar. The left-back is one of the highly rated starlets in the youth academy of the Bantams and apart from Sunderland, Burnley and West Bromwich Albion are also believed to be monitoring his developmental process very closely.
Milambo might not have featured for the senior side of Bradford City but he is tipped to get the nod in the near future after showcasing his calibre to the spectators of youth football. Apparently, Simon Grayson’s side might be reluctant to let the 17-year-old leave Valley Parade in the summer but they must prepare themselves for interest from various other English clubs for Milambo at the end of the season.
However, the fact that he lacks the experience of competitive football might force Coleman to thoroughly assess him before luring him to the Stadium of Light in the summer. Even if they sign him, Sunderland would need some galvanizing signings to inject some freshness into their arsenal. With their chances of relegation being very high and given their lack of financial muscle, it would be intriguing to see how Sunderland fare during the summer transfer window.
