Manchester United will play hosts to Swansea City at Old Trafford on Saturday looking to consolidate their position in the league table. The Red Devils are currently sitting in the second position in the Premier League table with a tally of 65 points in 30 league matches.
In any other campaign, Jose Mourinho’s side would be well in contention of winning the league but the record-breaking form of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has seen them fall behind in the race for the league title.
The Citizens of Manchester are leading the Premier League by a massive 16 points with the Red Devils desperately trying to play catch up with their ‘noisy neighbours’. The recent history of the fixture makes a grim reading for the Swans as they have not won in any of their previous five meetings with United, drawing one and losing four of those matches. Jose Mourinho might opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and could look to freshen up his team by making some changes for this contest.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Swansea City
Defence
David De Gea should start in goal for Manchester United and will be protected by a back four consisting of Chris Smalling and Eric Bailey in central defence while Antonio Valencia operates as the right-back and Ashley Young might start on the left side of the backline.
Jose Mourinho’s side has the second best defensive record in the league after shipping in only 23 goals during the course of this campaign. The Special One will be hoping that they keep a clean sheet at home to Swansea City to give themselves the best possible chance of bagging the three points.
Midfield
The duo of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba could be deployed at the centre of the park as the holding midfielders while the trio of Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata and new signing, Alexis Sanchez will play ahead of them. They will be tasked to create some chances and score the goals that will make the difference on the night. Jesse Lingard might have to settle for a place on the bench and could be called upon if needed later on in the match.
Attack
Romelu Lukaku will once again lead the lines for the Red Devils up top. The big Belgian striker has struggled to find the back of the net consistently in recent times but will hope to get his name on the scoresheet to help United secure the victory on Saturday. Anthony Martial might be used from the bench as another attacking option for Jose Mourinho to consider.
