As per latest developments, Leicester City are ready to let go of their midfield ace Andy King, who is currently plying his trade at Swansea City on a season-long loan. However, the former Premier League champions have also made it clear that the departure of the player will be dependent on his wish and they will not force it on him.
A permanent move to the Welsh club looks imminent for the 29-year-old, as the situation is currently indicating. The player has been associated with the West Midlands club since the start of his career but now it seems that he will have to end it somewhere else, Swansea City being the frontrunner to bag him on a permanent basis in the next transfer window.
Though he has been a part of the Leicester City side for quite some time now, his career never kicked off the way he would have wanted it to be with the Foxes since their promotion to the Premier League. He has been used on a rotational basis in the last few seasons and has been far from influential. With players like Matty James, Adrien Silva, Wilfried Ndidi and Vicente Iborra already featuring in the middle of the pitch for the former Premier League champions, it is next to impossible for the 29-year-old to find a place in the side, let alone the starting eleven and it will be better for him to make a move out of the King Power Stadium in the near future.
Known for his ability to keep the ball at his feet for a considerable amount of time and making crisp passes to help his teammates to score goals, King has been a good addition for the Swans since his loan move in January. The Welsh side, who were once staring at the possibility of relegation from the top flight, have revived under the tutelage of Carlos Carvalhal and King has played an important role in stabilising the midfield for them.
King, however, seems to take life as it comes. Unintimidated by the news of his probable departure, the veteran of more than 300 games with Leicester City said,
“My time at Leicester had come to an end,”
“I was not really involved and I am not one of those players who want to train and not be involved on a Saturday.
“If the loan all goes well over the next few months and the club are happy with the work I have done, maybe I can stay here longer.”
Though Swansea City will have to wait for some more time to confirm their stay in the top flight, it looks like Andy King is set to stay at the Liberty Stadium on a permanent basis, which might be a good move to revive his career given the present situation.
