Bayern Munich’s front line is led by none other than goal machine Robert Lewandowski who is apparently set to move this summer. The leading strike force at the German club simply cannot stop scoring. The German is coming off a brilliant hat-trick from last weekend and is in the form of his life over the last few years.
Amidst such hay, he has now been linked with a move to English sides Manchester United or Chelsea. They are apparently one of the few sides besides Real Madrid interested in the Polish international and want to land him come this summer.
Lewandowski first came into the limelight under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund where he became a fearsome striker. His development continued as Bayern Munich poached him up and he helped the Bundesliga giants land several trophies.
With Bayern Munich looking determined to keep hold of Lewandowski, Chelsea need to consider an alternative for him. Here are three players they can land.
Michy Batshuayi
The best solution is right in their hands with the Belgian playing out on loan currently at Borussia Dortmund. He has had a lightning start to life in Germany and shown his true quality there. Chelsea should do everything they can to bring him back and set up a team around him to get the best out of him.
However, ever since his arrival to Chelsea, he has had to play as a backup option; first to Diego Costa and now to Alvaro Morata. Batshuayi despite scoring 10 goals for Chelsea earlier this season had not shown the consistency Conte demanded and the Italian’s decision to rebuff the striker for the City match exposed Chelsea’s lack of options up front while in crisis. He has scored 19 goals in 53 matches for Chelsea and is contracted to the Blues till 2021, meaning that he will have to return to the club come May.
Karim Benzema
The Frenchman is on the fringes at his current club and if Lewandowski were to move, Benzema would surely be looking at a new home. Chelsea could be a good destination for the experienced player with a great career behind him.
Benzema signed for the Galacticos in the summer of 2009 for a fee of $50m by signing a six-year contract. Benzema has gone on to score 182 goals and register 104 assists in his 371 appearances for the club. He has won several trophies in the process including back to back Champions League trophies and was a part of the Real Madrid team which collected a record 100 points to win the La Liga in the 2011/12 season.
Kasper Dolberg
The Danish forward who can play on either wing as well has scored over 35 goals and created over 15 in less than 100 appearances for Ajax. The 23-goal man from last season just turned 20 last year and has a promising career ahead. If Chelsea can make a move for him, he could be a star in the making.
