Norwich City have put a £25m price-tag on their English forward James Maddison ahead of the summer transfer window. According to recent reports, the Canaries are set to demand a massive fee in the region of £25m for the English youngster this summer.
It is believed that a whole of Premier League clubs, which include the likes of Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester City are keeping tabs on the player and could be enticed to make a move in the off-season. Some sources are claiming that Maddison will certainly leave Carrow Road at the end of the current campaign, which is why the Canaries are demanding such a high fee in the hope that one of the interested clubs will meet their demands.
The Coventry-born forward signed for Daniel Farke’s side in the winter transfer period of 2016 from Coventry City for just a meagre fee of £2.5m. Since then, he has had loan spells at the Ricoh Arena and then at Aberdeen to continue with his development. Maddison has finally cut the mustard at Carrow Road this season and has featured in 41 matches for the Canaries, finding the back of the net 14 times while providing 10 assists in all competitions.
The Toffees are currently sitting in ninth place in the Premier League standings with a tally of 40 points in 31 matches. They are just three points behind Burnley who are occupying 7th place with a home match versus Manchester City looming on the horizon.
The addition of Maddison will undoubtedly bolster Sam Allardyce’s attacking options going into the new campaign as he looks to close the gap between themselves and the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ in the coming years. The Toffees have the likes of Gylfi Sigurðsson, Nikola Vlašić and Wayne Rooney who are vying for a place in Sam Allardyce’s starting eleven. The potential signing of Maddison will definitely add more competition for places in the Everton squad as they look to compete on all fronts next season.
The English youngster primarily operates in the number 10 position and at 21, he still has his peak years ahead of him which the Toffees could look to utilise in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Maddison and whether he ends up leaving the Canaries in favour of a move to Goodison Park in the near future.
