Aston Villa have made a decent progress under the tutelage of Steve Bruce this season in the Championship and there is no denying that they are seemingly likely to make it to the playoffs. The Villans are currently placed at the 4th spot in the league standings with 69 points to their name from 38 outings and are set to leave no stone unturned for getting promoted.
Bruce has made some shrewd decisions this season and one of the most intriguing acts he did was by signing Axel Tuanzebe on loan from the ranks of Manchester United. The youth academy of the Red Devils has given a lot of world-class players to the game since time immemorial and Tuanzebe is one of their latest outputs to have made a mark owing to his calibre.
Jose Mourino has a rich stock of notable defenders in his arsenal but Tuanzebe is indeed rated highly by the fans and Manchester United. When the England Under-21 international was lured to the Villa Park a couple of months ago, it was perceived to be a move that would take his developmental process to the next level. However, the scenarios haven’t rolled out as it was expected.
The 20-year-old is out with a hamstring injury since 21st February and is expected to return next month. He managed to make just 3 appearances in the English second division after his move to Aston Villa, winning 4.7 tackles per game on an average. Besides, he made 0.7 interception, 4.7 clearances and 0.7 block per game on an average and just when he was making a mark for himself, he was sidelined due to the injury.
His loan spell is set to end at the end of the season but it would make a lot of sense if Bruce manages to sign him once again on loan for the upcoming season. Irrespective of whether the Lions get promoted to the Premier League on loan, Tuanzebe would be a quality player to have in the ranks. He is a versatile starlet who can operate as a right-back, centre-back as well as a central defensive midfielder.
Tuanzebe is a sharp tackler and reads the attacking endeavours of the opposition brilliantly. The lad has inked a steady development in his career and what he needs is regular game time under his belt. Thus, a loan deal with Aston Villa once again next season should be able to meet the needs of all the parties involved.
