Manchester United star forward Wayne Rooney is on the verge of losing his spot in the starting eleven. United started the season brightly winning three back to back matches but after that nothing seemed to have gone right as they lost three consecutive matches. Watford shocked United 3-1 in their last match.
Mourinho has been using Rooney in the midfield instead of up front. Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was signed from Paris Saint-Germain was preferred in that position. According to reports, the Portuguese manager is considering dropping the Englishman who has so far been average.
Rooney is no longer that goal poaching forward what he is used to be. He currently has 248 goals and needs two more goals to surpass Bobby Charlton as the all time United top scorer.
Mourinho has earlier cleared his intension about Rooney.”Players change their characteristics with age . . . but the natural appetite to put the ball in the net never changes.” Rooney had earlier been linked to Chelsea in 2013 when Mourinho was in the Charge.
