Arsenal midfield star, Jack Wilshere’s career looks to have attracted the attention of everyone in the recent times. Just when it was looking like that the 26-year-old playmaker has found his lost footing in the side after missing out during the last few seasons due to a series of injuries, there seem to be problems pretty deep-rooted at the North London outfit, that might see him switch his loyalty to another club in England or Europe.
As per recent reports, Arsenal’s Premier League rivals, Everton, have already put an offer on the table for Wilshere, looking to acquire him as their second Arsenal player this season after Theo Walcott, who joined them in the January transfer window. So far, the attacker has performed a key role in reviving the season for the Toffees and has put in a paramount effort from the wings, which has also helped to resurrect his career after falling down the pecking order in the Arsenal lineup.
However, considered the case of Wilshere being different from that of his former teammate, as he is one of the key figures in the midfield for the Gunners this season after spending the last term on loan at Bournemouth, it was expected that Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal thinktank will be sitting down to plan and extend his career with a new deal on offer for him.
In an ideal world, this scenario should have ended with Wilshere securing a long-term future at the North London club and earning a better wage than his previous proforma but in reality, it is a forlorn story in the making.
The 26-year-old has been offered a new deal at the club with a pay-cut, which seems to have not gone well for both the negotiating parties. It has also been cited by The Mirror in their report that Wilshere’s stay at the North London outfit is subject to an incentive-heavy deal linked to appearances and performance bonuses, which preferably might not be accepted by the influential midfielder.
The situation is in a complete conundrum, to say the least, and a number of clubs from in and around England are looking to take advantage of the alleged fallout and add Wilshere to their side. The list consists of a number of big-name clubs like Juventus and AC Milan and also Everton, who are looking to be the best placed to agree on a deal with the English midfielder.
So, what does the future hold for the 26-year-old midfield maestro?
The decision, if taken in favour of leaving the Gunners by Wilshere, might be a big boost for his career as well, especially if he ends up joining the Merseyside club. As in the case of Walcott, the 29-year-old was not getting ample chance to feature in the starting lineup, which was hindering his progress as a player at Arsenal. At Everton, he has started in almost every match since his arrival.
If Wilshere does the same and joins Everton, he will be guaranteed a place in the starting lineup, which will help him to put his name up as a strong contender for a place in the English midfield as well.
From Everton’s point of view, it will be a dream move for them as well, which will help in strengthening their midfield immensely, given he stays fit and uninjured throughout the season. With players like Idrissa Gana Gueye and Jack Wilshere playing in tandem for them, the Toffees can surely hope for a better show in the middle of the park than this term.
