Stoke City might find themselves without Ramadan Sobhi next season if Liverpool comes in with an irrefutable bid of over £15m. Mohamed Salah has convinced the Reds about Sobhi’s talents and Jurgen Klopp could play in favour of the Egyptian international.
Liverpool’s Sadio Mane is currently undergoing a rough spell with Salah taking up the spotlight. The Senegalese carried Liverpool’s attack during last year but he has been usurped as the Reds’ talisman this season by his fellow African.
Unfortunately for Mane, he’s taken the wrong option several times this season, prompting many frustrated fans to ask what’s happened to the player who enjoyed such a sensational debut campaign at Anfield.
The 25-year-old has struggled to play at his usual consistently high level and, consequently, there has been a noticeable drop in his efficiency. He has already taken more shots than he did during his entire 2016/17 Premier League campaign and yet he has only scored eight goals, five fewer goals than the last term.
Philippe Coutinho’s departure has left a gap in the Liverpool ranks who used to work well in the final third with Firmino and Mane. While Salah has done more than expected this season, a backup winger needs to be signed for an improved title challenge in 2018/19.
Stoke City are in the 19th spot of the points table, 3 points adrift of safety. If they do get relegated to the Championship, high profile names will be unsettled at the club and several will have to be offloaded.
If Sobhi does make his way to Anfield here are a few names the Potters should consider bringing in.
Connor Mahoney
The 3 time England youth international has barely seen the pitch under Eddie Howe this season. With AFC Bournemouth, overstacked with attackers at the moment and Ryan Fraser, Jordon Ibe taking up the majority of the minutes on the wide areas, Mahoney would not mind making the switch to the bet3265 Stadium.
Ben Marshall
The Wolves player has been loaned out to Millwall for the remainder of the season. It is unlikely that the 26-year-old will be called upon by Nuno Santo following the promotion to the Premier League and Stoke City and give him an escape.
Marshall has found a new life in the Championship and is slowly returning to his usual self with 2 goals and 1 assist in his last 8 league appearances.
Nikola Vlasic
The Croatian winger has fallen out of favour with Sam Allardyce at Everton. He has struggled to find his feet at Goodison but is capable of the remarkable.
