Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is set to stay at West Midlands for the immediate future and has no intentions of leaving the club. According to recent reports, the Nigeria international is happy at the King Power Stadium and is committed to the Foxes’ cause as they look to ensure a top-half finish at the end of the season.
Ndidi has been subject to a lot of speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks and some sources are now claiming that those reports are wide off the mark. It is believed that the Reds are on the lookout for a new midfielder with Emre Can all set to leave the Merseyside club when his current runs out this summer. However, it looks like they have to look elsewhere for a replacement as Ndidi has pledged his loyalty to Leicester City.
A reliable source recently spoke to the Super Eagles midfielder and was quoted to have said, ”Ndidi is happy at Leicester City, he is one hundred percent committed to Leicester City and it’s confirmed he’s not leaving the club to join Liverpool,”
”Liverpool have not contacted him about joining the club.”
The 21-year-old signed for Leicester City in January 2017 from KRC Genk and has put in some solid displays at the heart of the Foxes midfield during the course of this campaign. He is currently under contract at the West Midlands club until the summer of 2022.
The Foxes are currently sitting in 8th place in the Premier League standings with a tally of 40 points in 30 matches. They are too far away from the ‘Big Six’ of the Premier League but a top 7 finish this season is well within their grasps. A lot of their success has been down to the contributions of Ndidi who has put in some dazzling displays for the Foxes this season.
The Super Eagles star has featured in 35 matches for the West Midlands outfit this term, finding the back of the net once while providing four assists across all competitions. His strong partnership with Vicente Iborra in central midfield has raised the hopes of Leicester fans as the club looks to build for a bigger and brighter future.
Ndidi is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions. He primarily plays as a holding midfielder but can also be deployed in central defence which makes him an ideal asset under Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Ndidi and whether he ends up leaving the West Midlands club in the near future.
